Do you believe in happy endings?

I cannot stress enough on the fact that I am a hopeless romantic.

Sometimes, when I am in a bad mood, I say to myself "I need to watch a chick flick". Of course, I am not implying that that is what romance is all about. Surely, there's ulterior romance out there that cannot be captured in chocolate covered candy and hearts. Or even in the sappy tales of middle-aged women who go looking for Mr. Right and find him, or happiness. (The pursuit of both together would be a mission, not a pursuit)

But is there really romance out there? And like, everyone out there who asks themselves this question, at least once in a lifetime: "Will our life ever turn out like the movies?"

Are movies just dreams put up on 35mm celluloid? Do they show you the improbable so that you can live those moments for 2 hours?? Are they selling something that cannot be achieved in real life?
Or are movies a reflection of our very lives? Are they stories told by the fortunate who have been lucky? Are they poetic renditions of the truth, of happiness??

Like Hannah Montana sang:
If we were a movie/ You'd be the right guy
And I'd be the best friend/ That you'd fall in love with
In the end we'd be laughing/ Watching the sunset
Fade to black/ Show the names/ Play the happy song

I guess what I'm trying to say here is we all have our own little movies playing in our heads. We're pretty much contemplating what the next scene is going to be. We also keep changing the stars according to our fancy. Yeah, in there, our lives really our multi-starrers. So, the big question is, do we believe in happy endings? Well, we have all our alternatives sitting right there, hoping to be picked. We can have our own little credits rolling. But then again, if everything turned out like the movies, where would the surprise go? :)

As the great John Lennon said, "Life happens when you're busy making other plans"!
